At UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, we treat all digestive, nutritional and liver disorders in infants, children, teens and adults up to 21 years old. Whether your child is having ordinary gastrointestinal (GI) troubles or serious health issues that require advanced therapies, your family can expect comprehensive care and support at our clinics and hospitals throughout the Bay Area.
Our teams include experts in a wide range of conditions. Among the many disorders we commonly treat are malabsorption syndromes, such as celiac disease and cystic fibrosis; feeding problems and swallowing disorders; gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD); diarrheal and motility disorders; inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); hepatitis; short bowel syndrome; liver failure requiring artificial liver support or liver transplant; and intestinal failure, including cases that require intravenous or tube feedings and cases that require small intestinal transplant.
We understand that treating your child and family takes more than medical expertise. In all our GI clinics, you have access to a range of support professionals and services to help you get all the care your child needs, navigate treatment, and focus on quality of life both during and after treatment.
Our patients also benefit from world-class pediatric GI research happening at UCSF. Your child will be treated by doctors who have access to cutting-edge techniques and tools, and may be eligible to enroll in clinical trials (studies to evaluate promising treatments). Our goal is to provide every child and family with the best possible care in a setting designed with kids' needs in mind.
