UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals Blood Disorders program provides expert care to children with acquired or inherited diseases of the blood or bone marrow. We're home to an internationally renowned program for the treatment of sickle cell anemia, one of the country's largest centers for thalassemia, and a regional center for treatment of pediatric hemophilia. Many of our doctors are leading experts and researchers in their fields who incorporate the latest thinking and therapies into their patients' care.
Our program provides diagnostic and treatment services all under one roof. Depending on your child’s illness, treatment options may range from medication and immunotherapy to complex transfusions and bone marrow transplants or even participation in a clinical trial.
We know the many ways a blood disorder can affect a child's health, so we collaborate across specialties in caring for each child. Working as a team, we aim to have a lasting positive impact on your child's health.
Patients with leukemia or other cancers of the blood or bone marrow are treated through our pediatric Oncology program.
