Stephanie Welty is a pediatric nurse practitioner who cares for children who are undergoing a blood marrow transplant to treat a blood disorder, metabolic disease or cancer. She works with patients during the early period after transplant and treats those who develop complications, including infection, veno-occlusive disease — an obstruction of veins in the liver that can occur after transplant — and graft-versus-host disease, a condition in which the transplanted cells attack a patient's healthy cells.

Welty earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Columbia University.

Welty lives in San Francisco. She enjoys spending free time with her dog.
