Carrie McFarland is a senior dietitian who cares for patients in the pediatric intensive care unit. She assesses the growth and nutritional status of these patients, and develops nutritional formulations to support their development. She specializes in caring for children with critical conditions, including congenital diaphragmatic hernia (a defect in the muscle that separates the chest and abdomen), cystic fibrosis and esophageal atresia (a defect in the tube connecting the throat to the stomach).
