Infectious Diseases Clinic
Infections in the very young can be complicated, making prompt, expert diagnosis and treatment particularly crucial. Fortunately for worried parents, our specialists at the UCSF Pediatric Infectious Diseases Clinic are experienced in caring for babies and children with a wide variety of bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections that can make kids sick.
Among the challenging conditions we diagnose and treat are skin and other soft tissue infections, including those caused by the staph bacteria called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA); bone infections (osteomyelitis); the condition doctors call "fever of unknown origin," which may be caused by an infection; infections picked up during travel; and many other types of infection.
Our specialists also have expertise in resolving infections related to cancer and its treatments, bone marrow transplants and organ transplants, as well as infectious complications from surgery. We are also one of the Bay Area's premier health care centers for children with HIV and tuberculosis.
