Lab Services

Lab tests are crucial for diagnosing, treating and monitoring illnesses. In fact, most health care decisions are based on the results of blood and urine tests and the examination of other body fluids and tissues.

Lab Services at UCSF provides the full array of specialized diagnostic tests, both on-site in our hospitals and at convenient community locations. All told, we perform more than 4.2 million such tests a year.

If your child needs their blood drawn, please refer to this list of locations to find the most convenient location for you, including sites specifically for patients with cancer. Our staff is highly skilled at collecting specimens from babies and children, and our phlebotomists (technicians who draw blood) use microtechniques to minimize the amount of blood drawn.

You can be confident that our team will work with you to meet the individual needs of your child.
