Osher Center for Integrative Health
At the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Health, we combine mainstream medical treatments with safe, effective alternative therapies. Rather than just addressing a set of symptoms, our approach takes the whole child into account – mind, body and spirit – and aims to optimize overall health and well-being.
The conditions we treat include chronic illnesses and pain; attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (at our Neurodevelopmental Integrative Care Clinic); and certain psychological issues, such as anxiety.
During the first appointment, we thoroughly evaluate your child's health and development, looking at strengths as well as challenges. We then provide a treatment plan designed to meet your family's needs and values. The plan may include both conventional medical approaches and alternative treatments, such as dietary adjustments and nutritional supplements, acupuncture, biofeedback therapy or massage therapy.
Children have an innate drive and capacity to heal, and we encourage this by involving your child as much as possible in the treatment process. And as your child's needs change over time, we'll work with your family to adjust the plan as needed.
