Julius Oatts

Pediatric ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist

Dr. Julius Oatts is an ophthalmologist who cares for children with all types of eye conditions, including glaucoma and disorders of the anterior segment, which includes the iris and lens.

Oatts' research focuses on pediatric glaucoma. He has previously conducted studies on an eye cancer called retinoblastoma. Other past studies involved using multiple methods to assess patients with conditions of the cornea.

After earning his medical degree and a master of health science at Yale School of Medicine, Oatts completed a residency in ophthalmology at UCSF. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children's Hospital.

Oatts belongs to the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and Frederick C. Cordes Eye Society, an association of UCSF alumni.

After growing up in Colorado, attending college in Atlanta and pursuing his medical training on the East Coast, Oatts moved to San Francisco, his favorite city in the states.
