The Medical Staff Office at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland coordinates the credentialing and privileging of more than 800 health care providers at our Oakland campus. We follow credentialing standards mandated by the federal and state government as well as by regulatory agencies such as the Joint Commission, National Committee for Quality Assurance and the American Accreditation HealthCare Commission / URAC.

Grand rounds
Grand rounds are held Tuesday mornings from 8 to 9 a.m. in the Outpatient Center basement auditorium. CME units are available. Bagels and coffee are served. You are also welcome to attend most of the resident noon conferences, but many do not qualify for CME.

Resident noon conferences
Resident noon conferences are also held in the Outpatient Center basement auditorium from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on most weekdays. You can access the noon conference schedules on CHOnet, or visit Noon Conferences.
Diagnostic imaging
The digital Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) allows remote viewing of all diagnostic images (X-rays, CAT scans, MRIs, etc.) at dedicated computer workstations inside the hospital, and from outside the hospital via a web-based system. For more information, contact:

Referencing the hospital
Officially, the hospital's name is UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. We don't use acronyms for public and external communications. If you're referencing the hospital in writing, use the full name in the first reference. After the first reference, you can refer to it as Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland.
You may see internal communications using the acronym "BCHO." This acronym is used only for internal audiences and should not be used when communicating to the public.
Parking
You may park in the multilevel parking structure next to the Outpatient Building. Use the door west of the public entrance. There is an ID badge reader on the side of the driveway opposite the garage door. Community-based medical staff may also park on the north side of the hospital along 52nd Street.
Doctor's lounge
The doctor's lounge is located down the hall from the cafeteria, between the Medical Staff Office Annex and the exit to the south parking lot. Use your ID badge to enter. The lounge has a coffee machine, microwave, TV and computer terminals for your use.
Health information management
Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland uses Epic for its electronic medical records. To care for patients in the hospital or its clinics, you must complete Epic training.
Hospital email accounts
Hospital Information Systems (HIS) can help you set up a password for Meditech and for Outlook email.
Medical Center employees should submit a medical center account request form at https://arf.ucsfmedicalcenter.org.
Outlook is the hospital-wide email system. Generally, hospital and medical staff email addresses follow this format: [email protected].
HIS can tell you how to access Outlook through the internet using your web browser. HIS can also help you with software and technical assistance to set up a virtual private network (VPN) on your office or home computer to link to Meditech.

The purpose of the Medical Staff Well-Being Committee is to support the health and wellness of our Medical Staff members, and in so doing, protect patient welfare, improve patient care and improve Medical Staff functioning.
