The UCSF Hospital-Based Youth Violence Intervention Program (YVIP) supports Bay Area patients between the ages of 12 and 19 who are recovering from gunshot wounds, stab wounds or physical assault.
Our program is a collaboration that includes social workers, trauma experts and community-based organizations. We seek to help patients not only heal but develop skills that can free them from cycles of violence. When patients leave the hospital, we connect them with partners that provide mental health services, community-based mentorship, individual case management, skill building, job readiness, education and financial assistance.
Please note that YVIP is not able to provide services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, self-inflicted wounds, or child abuse, nor does it serve patients in law enforcement custody or those who need inpatient psychiatric care.
