The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI) uses progressive technologies and procedures to evaluate infectious diseases, inherited disorders, oncogene copy number, and other gene abnormalities.
We employ a variety of molecular biology techniques for detecting pathogens. These include polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and related molecular biology techniques, which are rapid and sensitive. Quantitation of viral load is also available using molecular techniques.
Our lab is CLIA-certified and is recognized by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the state of California as a licensed testing facility.
