Amy Iams is a nurse who cares for children with heart rhythm issues, including those with implanted cardiac devices. Certified as a registered cardiac electrophysiology specialist, she works in interventional cardiology (minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures to diagnose and treat heart conditions) and electrophysiology (a method of assessing the heart's electrical activity). She also cares for pediatric and adult congenital heart disease patients.
Iams has a bachelor's degree in nursing from St. Louis University. She is certified as a registered cardiac electrophysiology specialist.
After close to two decades in nursing, Iams still seeks ways to challenge herself professionally. She is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society and Pediatric and Congenital Electrophysiology Society, and enjoys learning about advancements in the electrophysiology field.
