Clarissa Rivas, who goes by Clari, is a social worker who helps patients and their families cope with a broad range of stressors related to illness and being in a medical environment. She is interested in palliative and hospice care, family dynamics, intergenerational healing, and individual and familial sustainability (a social welfare model that seeks comprehensive solutions for addressing poverty and supporting well-being). She is passionate about creating what bell hooks called a "beloved community" wherever she goes.
Rivas earned her master's degree in social welfare and completed her pupil personnel services credential at the University of California, Berkeley. She is completing a management and supervision program at Laney College.
Rivas is a former child welfare worker and educator, with experience in leadership development, public policy, and community organizing and advocacy.
