Fernando Urrego

Dr. Fernando Urrego is a pediatric pulmonologist who cares for infants, children and adolescents with acute or chronic respiratory conditions. His expertise includes treating asthma, lung prematurity, cystic fibrosis, wheezing and chronic cough. He also cares for patients who have a tracheostomy (a surgically made opening in the windpipe) and those who depend on a ventilator.

In research, Urrego focuses on improving the quality of patient care and addressing health disparities.

Urrego earned his medical degree from Escuela de Medicina Juan N. Corpas in Bogotá, Colombia. He completed a pediatric residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, followed by a pediatric pulmonology fellowship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He also has a master of public health degree from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
