Dr. Jillian Olsen is a pediatric cardiologist who cares for newborns, children and young adults with heart disease when they are in the intensive care unit (ICU). Since an ICU stay often happens immediately before or after heart surgery, she helps patients and families prepare for and recover from this significant event, providing compassionate care during what can be a scary time.

In her research, Olsen focuses on how the heart and kidneys interact. Specifically, she studies how blood flow and heart function can impact kidney function and how to prevent kidney injury in kids with heart disease.

Olsen earned her medical degree at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Training at Seattle Children's Hospital, she completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Washington. She completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine, training at Texas Children's Hospital and serving as chief fellow. She also completed a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Harvard Medical School, training at Boston Children's Hospital.
