Kade Sigford

Pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist

Dr. Kade Sigford is a specialist in pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation. They care for children with conditions that include cerebral palsy, brain injuries, spina bifida, spinal cord injuries, neurotrauma (such as concussions and skull or spinal column fractures), torticollis (involuntary neck muscle contractions), spasticity (abnormal muscle contractions linked to neurological conditions or injuries) and gait impairment. They also prescribe orthotics and therapeutic equipment for pediatric patients of all ages.

Sigford earned a bachelor's degree in biology at Lawrence University and their medical degree at the University of California, Davis. They completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Stanford University, followed by a fellowship in pediatric rehabilitation medicine at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

Before joining UCSF, Sigford was a faculty member at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine for five years, serving as an associate clinical professor of pediatrics and as division chief of rehabilitation services. They served on the university's admissions committee, recruiting applicants with rural backgrounds who were likely to return to rural settings as primary care providers. During this time at the University of South Dakota, Sigford provided care at Children's Specialty Hospital and Specialty School at LifeScape, a residential facility for children with medical needs that could not be met in rural and underserved areas of the surrounding community.

Sigford is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota. In their free time, they enjoy reading, playing board games and training for triathlons.
