Dr. Kathryn Rouine-Rapp is a cardiac anesthesiologist whose focus is on caring for infants, children and adults as they undergo surgery for congenital or acquired heart disease. This includes preparing patients for surgery as well as postsurgical recovery.

Rouine-Rapp earned an undergraduate degree in nursing at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She earned her medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University. She completed her anesthesia residency at UCSF, then completed UCSF fellowships in cardiac anesthesia and transesophageal echocardiography.

Rouine-Rapp joined the UCSF faculty in 1992. She received her certification in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography in 2000.
