Michael Lang

Pediatric hospitalist
Coach, educator and technology specialist

Dr. Michael Lang is a pediatric hospitalist, a specialist in the care of hospitalized patients. He cares for children with a wide range of medical conditions that require hospitalization. He is associate chief medical information officer for children's services at UCSF Health, a role in which he applies information technology to improve patient care.

Lang has a master of public health degree from the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University. He earned his medical degree at UCSF and completed a residency in pediatrics at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland, serving as chief resident.

Lang actively participates in quality improvement projects and is certified in "lean methodology," which seeks to optimize the patient experience by reducing waste and wait times in health care settings. He is also passionate about the education of medical students and residents, and has received an award for his teaching.

In his free time, Lang enjoys running with his wife, coaching his children's sports teams and reading fantasy novels with his family.
