Nilika Shah Singhal

Devoted mom and nature lover

Dr. Nilika Shah Singhal is a pediatric neurologist and epilepsy specialist who cares for children with difficult-to-control seizures. Her expertise includes evaluating patients to determine whether they are candidates for surgical treatment.

Singhal finds satisfaction in all aspects of her work – caring for patients, teaching and mentoring medical students, and pursuing research into ways to improve patient care. She also conducts research into the causes of health care disparities.

Singhal earned her medical degree at McGovern Medical School, part of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, serving as chief resident in her final year. After completing fellowships in child neurology and pediatric epilepsy at UCSF, she joined the faculty in 2013.

Singhal is a member of the American Epilepsy Society and American Academy of Neurology. Outside of work, she enjoys being with her family. Together, they like to spend time in nature, take Bay Area hikes, play music and travel.
