Yao Sun

Dr. Yao Sun, chief of Neonatology, is medical director of the William H. Tooley Intensive Care Nursery at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. His expertise includes medical informatics, a field that combines medicine and computer science, which he uses to keep the intensive care nursery on the cutting edge. Sun came to UCSF from Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center, where he was director of neonatology.

Sun earned his medical degree at UCLA and a doctorate in computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatology at Boston Children's Hospital.
