Pronouns: She | Her | Hers

Gabriella Moreno is a social worker who cares for adolescents and young adults with mental health concerns. Part of the UCSF Wavefront Program since 2019, she provides individual and group cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to young people impacted by suicidal thoughts and behaviors; self-harm; mood, anxiety and trauma-related disorders; and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She has been with UCSF since 2014 and previously served as director of recovery services for the UCSF Path Program, which supports patients with early psychosis as well as their loved ones and care providers.

Moreno's philosophy of care is not about "fixing" patients but teaching them skills to live as they wish. She aims to help her patients feel that they – and not their symptoms – are in charge of their lives. She brings energy and playfulness to each session, with the goal of motivating patients to meet their goals.

Moreno earned her bachelor's degree in collaborative human services, with an emphasis in community health, from California State University, Monterey Bay. She earned her master's degree in social work at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. A licensed social worker for more than 20 years, she has extensive experience in serving severely and persistently mentally ill young adults.
