Pediatric nurse
Monica Mueller is a pediatric nurse who cares for children and young adults with diabetes. She provides case management and diabetes education for patients and their families.
After earning her bachelor's degree in nursing from California State University, East Bay, Mueller completed her training at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. Before joining UCSF, she worked as a school nurse for the Mount Diablo Unified School District. She has a master's degree in physical therapy from the joint program of UCSF and San Francisco State University. In her previous work as a physical therapist, she primarily cared for children with neuromuscular conditions.
Mueller volunteers with several organizations serving people with diabetes, including Diabetes Youth Families' Bearskin Meadow Camp, Dogs4Diabetics and RotaCare Bay Area (an alliance of health care clinics providing free services to underserved populations).
In her free time, Mueller enjoys biking and hiking with her husband, cooking for friends, traveling, and tending her garden and chickens.
