Shawna Pharo is a nurse who specializes in caring for children who need treatment for heart conditions. She coordinates services for patients and their families to ensure they receive what they need – the right care, in the proper settings and at appropriate times. She works to ensure smooth transitions from hospital to home, and she also supports patients as they move from pediatric to adult care.

Pharo earned a master's degree in nursing, with a focus on case management, from Samuel Merritt University College of Nursing. During nursing school, she completed the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, a leadership development program that prepares participants to address the health needs of underserved communities.

Pharo is certified as an accredited case manager, a credential that may be earned by health care professionals who focus on case management and care transitions.
