Social worker
Teresa Vazquez is a social worker who cares for pediatric patients with blood conditions, including bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia. She helps children and their families navigate the feelings and stresses that accompany new diagnoses and chronic illnesses. Her goal is to support people wherever they are in the emotional process.
Vazquez earned a master's degree in social work, with a focus on family and children services, at California State University, East Bay. While completing the program, she trained in a pediatric intensive care unit, and after finishing her degree, she worked in an emergency department. She first became interested in caring for chronically ill children through volunteer work during high school and college.
