Dr. Shruti Kant is a specialist in pediatric emergency medicine. She cares for critically ill and injured children at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. She also has expertise in medical education, particularly the use of simulation in training.
Kant's academic work focuses on simulation-based education for trainees, faculty and staff as well as quality improvement in patient care. She has developed interdisciplinary simulation-based programs for the emergency department at UCSF as well as a community hospital outreach program to help ensure the right care for children no matter where they are treated. She is also interested in faculty development to enhance medical education.
Kant earned her medical degree at Grant Government Medical College in Mumbai, India. She completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Kant is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. For the AAP's emergency medicine section, she serves on the education subcommittee's steering committee. She is also a member of the AAP's editorial board for PREP E-Med, an online self-assessment program for doctors specializing in pediatric emergency medicine.
