Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

UCSF's Pediatric Ear, Nose & Throat (Otolaryngology) Program is respected nationwide, with highly skilled specialists focused on providing cutting-edge care for the smallest patients with the many conditions of the ear, nose and throat. Among the disorders our ENT doctors commonly treat are tonsillitis, ear infections, chronic rhinosinusitis, hearing loss, growths of the head and neck (both noncancerous and cancerous), vocal cord abnormalities and breathing problems during sleep (such as obstructive sleep apnea).

The pediatric ENT team emphasizes finding the most advanced and appropriate treatment for each child. When a tonsillectomy is needed, we offer coblation, a technique that reduces pain and speeds recovery compared to traditional cautery methods for removing the tonsils. For children with severe hearing loss, our dedicated cochlear implant center provides evaluation, surgery and follow-up care for kids with the potential to benefit from the treatment.
