Kidney Care

As one of the largest pediatric nephrology departments in Northern California, the kidney care program at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals has the experience and expertise to deliver the best possible care to babies and children with kidney or urinary tract diseases. We are particularly adept at assessing and treating the youngest patients with acute kidney failure, or sudden loss of kidney function.

When the kidneys aren't working well, we are highly successful in using dialysis or kidney transplantation to return young patients to a normal life. Our Pediatric Kidney Transplant Program is one of the oldest and most experienced in the U.S., while our Pediatric Dialysis Unit is one of only two centers in Northern California to specialize in this lifesaving therapy for infants, children and adolescents.
