Juvenile Myositis Center of Excellence
The Juvenile Myositis Center of Excellence cares for patients with juvenile myositis and juvenile dermatomyositis, rare autoimmune conditions that can cause severe muscle inflammation and skin rashes.
Our program was founded in 2022 by specialists with decades of experience in studying and treating juvenile myositis, and the team focuses on providing wraparound care – a dynamic process of working with families to meet their specific needs and build on their strengths. We support our young patients from diagnosis and treatment through follow-up and monitoring. Our standards of care have earned us a center of excellence designation from Cure JM, an organization that funds research and education on juvenile myositis.
Our physician-scientists also maintain an active research program that includes both studies on the biological underpinnings of juvenile myositis and clinical trials to evaluate promising new treatments. We are dedicated to translating the latest science into better therapeutic options and health outcomes for our patients.

Patient stories
Back to school while healing from rare disease
Juvenile dermatomyositis had Annabel in severe pain and distress. With a care team that prioritized her mental health as much as her physical recovery, she is back to swimming – and smiling.
