Community Engagement

A collaborative approach

UCSF BCH Oakland is a proud member of the local community and is dedicated to facilitating open and ongoing engagement with the community and elected officials around our activities.

Since March 2012, community input has been an integral part of creating a comprehensive campus plan that best serves our patients, families, staff, and neighbors. This initial community planning process culminated in the Oakland City Council's 2015 approval for the Oakland Campus Master Plan. This allowed Phase 1 to begin design and construction, and granted preliminary design approval for Phase 2.

Community engagement for the second phase of work began in early 2021 and continues today. BCH Oakland is working closely with our neighbors and key stakeholders to ensure the modernization of the campus proceeds with their input.
