Securing the future
Our investment in UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland continues with Phase 2 of our Campus Modernization Plan. We will invest more than $1 billion in the BCH Oakland campus to continue to modernize facilities, enhance care and ensure access for all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Phase 2 is part of our commitment to strengthen our care services and broaden access for our local communities.
Enhanced patient experiences and outcomes
Updated facilities, including new operating rooms to accommodate the latest technologies, allow BCH Oakland to continue as a state-of-the-art level one trauma hospital providing surgical, mental health, neonatal intensive care, acute care, lab, specialty care, and emergency room services.
Seismic compliance
By 2030, all structures will meet seismic standards. This safeguards BCH Oakland's role as a regional trauma and disaster recovery center.
Expanded mental health services
To meet the growing need, the new hospital will include 20 inpatient beds for mental health services. These will be the first inpatient beds in Alameda County.
Growing the local economy
The project will help create good-paying construction, clinical, nursing and service jobs and other economic benefits.
